DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m a volunteer with Rebuilding Together Lewiston/Auburn and I’m asking that readers help us with finding homes to renovate this year. The nonprofit organization is supported entirely by contributions of time, labor, material and money. We are dedicated to repairing the homes of those who, due to financial hardship, age, and/or disability, cannot do the work themselves. Skilled and unskilled volunteers alongside able-bodied members of the recipient’s family and friends complete the repairs at no cost to the homeowner.
The work is conducted on one weekend per year. This year, Rebuilding Day is May 10. We will be accepting house applications until March 31. Applications can be found on our website at: www.rebuildingtogetherla.org. You can also contact us at [email protected] and request one to be sent via mail.
Skilled and unskilled volunteers are also needed. If you would like to volunteer, please contact us at the email address above, or call 333-7449. — Shanna, Lewiston
ANSWER: Whether you need repairs to your home or want to volunteer, please sign up as soon as possible so organizers of this effort can plan and move forward.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for buttons for making crafts. Please call me at 312-9317 — Cecile, Lewiston
ANSWER: I’m very curious about what you’re creating, Cecile. I’ve seen so many clever ideas come to reality using buttons. Let us know what you’re up to. And in the meantime, readers, if you have buttons to give Cecile, please contact her.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Please save the date for the Lisbon High School Class of 1965’s 60th-year reunion. It will be Saturday, July 26, at the Lisbon Left Hand Club on Old County Road. A social hour will begin at 1 p.m. with a meal to follow. We’ll send out more information in the near future. — No name, no town
ANSWER: If you’re a class member, please spread the word and keep your eyes peeled for more information as the time gets closer. You’ll find it here in Sun Spots!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you again for helping me thank an unknown person.
On Feb. 28, I was shopping in Auburn and after I left, I took a short ride before going to Shaw’s in Lewiston to pick up some items there. When I arrived there, I discovered that my waist pack was missing. I went into sheer panic as my checkbook, medications, and cellphone were in it, as well as other necessary items.
I went back to Walmart and was directed to Lost & Found. The waist pack was there, fully intact, with nothing missing. To the person who turned it in, I sincerely and wholeheartedly thank you for your kindness and total honesty. God bless you and yours.
I’ve told this story to others and you have received many “thumbs up.” — Betty, Poland
ANSWER: I’m so glad this stressful situation had a happy ending. Thank you for sharing.
