ORONO — University of Maine Cooperative Extension is set to offer a webinar for home gardeners on selecting resilient perennials from 6-7:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 9.
Herbaceous perennials support wildlife and pollinators while adding beauty to home gardens, according to a news release from Melissa Arndt, director of marketing and communications, University of Maine Cooperative Extension. As long-term investments, perennials can also be affected by fluctuations in temperature, rainfall and snowfall.
Stephanie Burnett, professor of horticulture in the School of Food and Agriculture at the University of Maine, will discuss what to consider when selecting perennials and make recommendations for resilient Maine gardens. This webinar is the final in the four-part series Gardening for the Future.
Registration is required; sliding scale fee options are available. Register on the event webpage to attend live or receive the recording link.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
