TOWNSHIP E —Smalls to the Wall, Maine’s premier whitewater kayak Steep Creek Race is set to take place on Saturday, April 19. The time trial format race takes place at Smalls Falls and Chandler Mill Stream off Route 4. Both are popular spots for whitewater kayakers
Kayakers are not the only ones who enjoy the exhilarating thrill of the race. The race draws spectators who flock to their favorite vantage points to get their fill of adrenaline as they watch paddlers make their way down the rushing waterfalls of the narrow gorge.
The Chandler Mill Stream race gets underway at 10 a.m. The Smalls Falls race follows at 1 p.m.

There is no fee for watching the race and spectators should plan on being in place well before race times in order catch the first run.
