PARIS — Join Ag Allies Manager Laura Suomi-Lecker in Paris on Thursday, April 10, from 4-5 p.m. for ‘Grassland Habitat: Helping Birds & Other Wildlife,’ a presentation about grassland wildlife and the ways we can support them, hosted by Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District.
Bobolinks and meadowlarks are two of the most charismatic and iconic species of our grasslands. They, along with other grassland species, have suffered the steepest losses of North American birds in recent decades, facing threats on several fronts simultaneously, and thus they need all the conservation help we can give them.
In this presentation, we will cover Maine’s grassland-dependent bird species and their conservation, as well as best management practices to provide and improve your lawn and field habitat for birds and other wildlife!
This event is free! Please register by visiting our website at oxfordcountyswcd.org/workshops.
We will gather in the meeting space of the Oxford County Cooperative Extension, located at 9 Olson Road in Paris. Please register no later than Wednesday, April 9. For more information, please contact Chantelle Hay, Education and Outreach Coordinator, Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District at [email protected] or by calling 207-744-3111.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
