RANGELEY — The RSU #78 Board of Education met on Wednesday, April 9, at the Rangeley Lakes Regional School. The meeting was called to order at 5:30PM.
Board Chair Dr. Mary Richards reminded the board of important dates: Tuesday, May 6, for the public budget presentation at 6 p.m., and Tuesday, June 10, for voting. The Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, June 11.
Superintendent Georgia Campbell shared that RSU 78’s application for summer programming has been submitted to the state for roughly $11,000 in grant funds. She also shared that she attended the Innovative Schools Summit in March and it was by far the best, most inspiring conference with many high quality sessions. She came away with some team building activities and ways to improve professionally and with renewed energy.
Principal Seth Laliberte was not in attendance, so Campbell shared his updates, including that state assessments are coming up and the state science exams have already begun. Laliberte will be collecting school climate information from students and families. Staff have already been surveyed. Survey information will help guide the district’s long range planning. On Friday, April 11, high school students are attending a career fair at Saddleback, and the Spanish III/IV students left on Wednesday, April 9, for their trip to Costa Rica.
Committee reports included updates from the Policy Committee, which met this month and worked on Title IX policies. There are no action items for this meeting; the Finance Committee reviews the monthly reports and the district is on track. Right now the main goal for the committee is to prepare the board for the public budget hearing in May. The Facilities Committee discussed paving and they are waiting on proposals, they have received a quote from Vortex to clean the plumbing and Vortex will be in the building to complete this work over April break.
There were no appointments, resignations, nominations or transfers.
There were two action items: the signing of the warrants which passed unanimously, and a motion to set the June meeting for Wednesday, June 11.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:55PM. The next RSU 78 Board of Directors meeting will be on Tuesday, May 13, at 5:30PM at the Rangeley Lakes Regional School in the multipurpose room.
