Construction is well underway at the apartment complex at Mt. Auburn Apartments at 138 Mt. Auburn Road in Auburn. A fire completely destroyed one of the buildings last year after the framework was nearly complete. Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal

Seven months after fire totally destroyed one of two brand new apartment buildings at the Mt. Auburn Apartment complex at 138 Mt. Auburn Road, the first building is accepting lease applications for one and two-bedroom units. Foundation work is well underway for the second building, which is being rebuilt from the ground up.

Officials have not released a cause of the four-alarm fire September 8, 2024, which was intense enough for 11 fire departments to respond.

Less than one month later, developer A.R. Building Co. confirmed it would rebuild the complex which appears to be on schedule from the revised construction timetable.

Currently, only 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units are listed as available now or listed as available June 15. All the units are market price and start at $1,880 for a 1-bedroom, $2,310-$2,563 for a 2-bedroom, 2-bath unit with over 1,240 square feet. Apartments come with an in-unit washer and dryer, granite countertops, and a private balcony.

Other amenities listed for the complex include a 24-hour fitness center and a pool, although it’s unclear if the pool is still in the plans.

There is now a local phone number listed for lease inquiries, which is 207-520-8332. Some of the information listed on the website appears to be out of date.
