Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust (RLHT) is proud to announce the launch of the Outdoor Recreation Council (ORC), a new advisory group designed to strengthen connections between the outdoor community and RLHT.
The council brings together passionate outdoor enthusiasts representing a wide range of activities—fishing, hunting, birding, hiking, off-road recreation (ATVing, snowmobiling), biking, and watersports. ORC members will serve as ambassadors and advisors, ensuring that the voices of local and regional outdoor users are part of RLHT’s conservation work.
“The Rangeley Lakes Region is known for its incredible outdoor opportunities,” said David Miller, executive director of RLHT. “With the ORC, we’re creating a platform where recreation and conservation come together. It’s about listening, collaborating, and making sure our work reflects the community’s values.”
Why It Matters
Provides a platform for diverse community voices on issues affecting public access, stewardship, and conservation.
Builds trust and inclusivity by welcoming input from local and regional outdoor users.
Advances RLHT’s mission to conserve, restore, and steward the Rangeley Lakes Region.
How It Works
Seven members, each representing a different outdoor pursuit.
Members serve three-year terms, selected through a public nomination process.
ORC meets six times per year and shares input directly with RLHT leadership.
Members gather feedback through events, surveys, and outreach, while also serving as RLHT brand ambassadors.
Call for Council Nominations
RLHT is now seeking nominations for the inaugural council. Outdoor enthusiasts who are passionate about the Rangeley Lakes Region are encouraged to apply. Nominations, including self-nominations, must be submitted by October 15, to Ken Beaulieu at [email protected].
Together, we can ensure that the future of conservation in the Rangeley Lakes Region reflects the voices and values of those who love its lands and waters most.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
