TASTE THE HARVEST IN LEWISTON

LEWISTON — On Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 4-7 p.m., the city’s Taste the Harvest annual festival will take over part of Lisbon Street. The free event celebrates the local food economy, from farm to table.

Under twinkling lights, festivalgoers will be able to shop a pop-up farmers market and a local makers mart, enjoy music with Pallo Entertainment, make keepsakes at a photo booth and sip seasonal beverages at the Beer and Wine Garden and more.

Those wanting to dine can grab a limited number of tickets to sample food from a variety of local eateries, including Mother India, Orchid, The Pub at Baxter, DaVinci’s Eatery, Mancini’s Italian Deli, The Blue Feather and Nutty Nettie’s Cafe.

NEWRY — Sunday River ski resort’s monthlong River Fest wraps up Oct. 11-12 with Fall Fest, a weekend packed with some of Sunday River’s most unforgettable traditions.

On Saturday, the resort hosts the North American Wife Carrying Championship. On Sunday, the New England Cornhole Championship takes place. On both days the Blue Mountain Craft Fair will take place.

CONQUER SOME REAL STAGE FRIGHT IN AUBURN

AUBURN — Starting Friday, Oct. 10, and running for two weekends, L/A Community Little Theatre will open its first haunted house at 30 Academy St.

“Step into the shadows of the Community Little Theatre, where the spirits of the past come alive and the stage lights never truly go out. Are you ready to uncover the sinister secrets that lurk behind the velvet curtains?” ask promotors of the inaugural event.

“This is not a guided tour — this is your journey into fear. Follow a marked path through the theater’s most haunted spaces. Beware: scare-actors and unexpected jump scares lurk around every corner. No one can shield you from the terror waiting in the dark.”

The event, titled “Shadows on Stage: A Haunted House,” will go from 6-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10 and 11, and Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17 and 18.

HEAR MARTHA, THEN ELTON, IN BATH

Martha Spencer and the Wonderland Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chocolate Church Arts Center, 804 Washington St. in Bath.

BATH — The Chocolate Church Arts Center will offer two musical performances next week to give a feel of Appalachia and a ride with the “Rocket Man.”

On Thursday, Oct. 9, Martha Spencer and the Wonderland Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. “Beguiling as a charm cast in the wind, Martha Spencer spins songs of timeless woods‑dwelling folk,” said Americana Highway.

Promoters say Spencer and her band celebrate “old-time Appalachian music through modern rockabilly rhythms inspired by Spencer’s deep roots in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.”

Elton John tribute artist Gerald Brann will perform in Bath on Saturday.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m., “An Evening With Elton” will take place at Chocolate Church, featuring Elton John tribute artist Gerald Brann. The solo performance by Brann for the limited-seating event will bring the audience up close and personal to Elton John’s classics, including “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer,” and more.

LISTEN TO THE OUTLAWS, TRAVELING LIGHT IN DENMARK

Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light will perform Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Denmark Arts Center, 50 West Main St. in Denmark.

DENMARK — It will be a musical weekend at the Denmark Arts Center when the Radio Outlaws and Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light perform.

On Friday, Oct. 10, the Radio Outlaws will perform at 7 p.m. The rock/country band group grew up in the Mount Washington Valley and offers up “sorta slow-core country from real beanheads,” according to organizers. “Imagine Mötley Crüe in a universe where The Beach Boys is the only music that exists.” Tickets are $15.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light will play at 7 p.m. The Boston-based string band “blends folk tradition with feminist storytelling, poetic detail, and just enough grit,” according to promotors. Tickets are $20.

AVOID THE HOLIDAY RUSH

POLAND — If the chilly weather and the Christmas decorations already up at the big- box stores have you humming holiday tunes, you’ll sure as sugarplums want to head to All Souls Chapel at the Poland Spring museum complex for a holiday concert Saturday, Oct. 11, by well-loved local musicians Phil House and Kathy Haley.

The holiday concert will start at 11 a.m. at the chapel at 37 Preservation Way. Tickets are $5 and benefit the Poland Spring Preservation Society. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. For more information go to polandspringps.org.
