Winthrop scored 14 points in the second half to pull away and beat Poland 21-6 in a Class D South football game on Friday night in Poland.
Quaterback Jacob Feith threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Brody Adams late in the first quarter to give the Ramblers (6-0) a 7-0 lead. Poland (3-3) responded when quarterback Damon Martin scored on a 62-yard run early in the second quarter, but the Knights missed the extra point.
The Knights appeared to score the third quarter but Lucas Verrill’s 94-yard run was called back because of holding.
Ross Fichthorn scored from 2 yards out later in the third to give Winthrop a 14-7 lead.
Brock Dewar intercepted Martin in the fourth quarter and stumbled into the end zone after a 45-yard return to give Winthrop a 21-6 lead.
OXFORD HILLS 55, LEWISTON 8: Cam Pulkkinen returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown and the Vikings (3-3) cruised past the Blue Devils (0-5) in South Paris.
Pulkkinen added a 14-yard touchdown reception and made seven PATs. Dylan Truman had three touchdown passes for Oxford Hills. Jackson Stack caught a touchdown pass and returned a fumble recovery 54 yards for a score.
Also for Oxford Hills, Chris Levesque scored on a 15-yard run and forced the fumble Stack returned, and Cam Roy scored on a 7-yard run.
Christian Rosario scored on a 2-yard run for Lewiston.
