DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Community Little Theatre production of “A New Home”  opened on Oct. 30. I know many Sun Spots readers will remember the original musical, “Lewiston: A New Home,” that was presented in 1995 to sold-out audiences.

In the 30 years since that production, major events – both good and tragic — have occurred in Lewiston and are represented in the musical’s revival to enhance its relevance and historical significance.

There will be a performance, Sunday, Nov. 2, and continuing performances at the Lewiston Middle School Auditorium on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6 through 8, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m. Tickets are available online at laclt.com. Don’t miss it! — Roger, no town

ANSWER: The box office can also be contacted at 783-0958 or [email protected]. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and students, and $17 for children 13 and younger.

You need not have taught in Androscoggin County, or even in the state of Maine. All educators are welcome: teachers, assistant teachers, ed techs, librarians, principals, guidance counselors, secretaries, and anyone who has worked with children.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for a craftsman who can repair two leather purses for me. I bought them years ago while I was traveling and am very sentimental about them. I’m hoping you know of someone who can help me. — Karli, no town

ANSWER: I can recommend Pelletier’s Custom Upholstery and Leatherwork. Handbags/purses are just one of the items that can be repaired. He can also take care of leatherwork and/or upholstery for ATVs, motorcycles, autos, boats, furniture, holsters, or sheaths, or zippers replaced, this is the place to go.

The business is open at 46 Main St. in Lewiston, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The number is 312-9624.

The business also has a presence on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pelletierscustomupholsteryandleatherwork

Another recommendation is Paul’s Shoe Repair at 350 Lisbon St. in Lisbon. He repairs shoes, sporting equipment, tack, and leather goods.

The contact information for the shop is 514-6800, [email protected], https://www.facebook.com/paulsshoerepairmaine . The hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
