AUBURN — Three people were arrested Monday following a yearlong drug investigation that yielded large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine from an Auburn apartment, according to a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency news release.
Brianna Reny, 26, of Auburn and Akil Charles, 31, of Brockton, Massachusetts, were each charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs and trafficking in schedule W drugs. William Tardiff, 57, of New Gloucester was charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs.
MDEA agents received information in December 2024 about a possible drug trafficking organization on Turner Street. Community tips and intelligence from local law enforcement led to an extensive investigation identifying Reny’s apartment at 257 Turner St. as the center of the organization, the release said.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for the apartment Monday and while surveillance of the building was being conducted, they identified a vehicle connected to the investigation leaving the building and conducted a traffic stop. Tardiff was driving the vehicle and was arrested after police found 179 grams of suspected cocaine.
The Maine State Police Tactical Team later executed the search warrant at Reny’s residence. Charles was apprehended while attempting to flee out of a window and Reny was detained without incident, the release said.
The search yielded nearly 1.25 kilograms of cocaine, 540 grams of fentanyl and 53 grams of methamphetamine — about $75,000 estimated street value. Other items indicative of drug trafficking were seized along with about $18,200 in suspected drug proceeds, police said.
All three were being held at Androscoggin County Jail as of Wednesday. Reny and Tardiff were each held on $10,000 cash bail pending initial appearances. Charles, who was out on bail for a robbery charge, was being held without bail.
