Kewito Castigo, Lewiston sophomore guard: After making waves as a freshman, Castigo, now one of the state’s top sophomores, could be the go-to player for the underclassmen-heavy Blue Devils.

Cai Dougher, Spruce Mountain senior forward: There’s a case to be made that Dougher, who averaged 16 points last season, is the best player in Class C. His return makes the Phoenix firm title favorites in the South.

Evan Drake, Mt. Blue sophomore forward: Drake impressed as a freshman, averaging seven points and seven rebounds per game. With the Cougars having graduated key players, expect him to be their No. 1 option.

Trenton Haskell, Buckfield senior guard: An elite scorer, Haskell averaged 17.5 points and 6 rebounds last season. In a Jan. 28 game against Rangeley, he scored a school-record 49 points and made a stunning 13 3-pointers.

Nick Jamo, Poland junior guard: Jamo, who averaged 12.2 points last season and made 43 3-pointers, is an elite scorer at all three levels for a Knights team that posted a best-ever regular-season record of 13-5.

Levi Laverdiere, Monmouth Academy junior guard: Laverdiere, a premier shooter who averaged 16.1 points last season and shot 88 percent from the free-throw line, is the top returning scorer for a team that’s expected to be a contender in Class D.

Akol Maiwen, Edward Little senior guard: Maiwen, who averaged 12 points, four rebounds and three assists in 2024-25, leads a team looking to build on last season’s 13-8 record and Class A North runner-up finish.

Cedric Makélélé, Edward Little senior guard: Akol Maiwen isn’t the only veteran leader at guard for the Red Eddies, as Makélélé, who averaged eight points, six rebounds and four assists last season, is also an impact player.

Damon Martin, Poland senior guard: A remarkable athlete with great floor vision, Martin, who averaged 13.3 points and 4.6 assists last season, leads a team looking to contend in B South.

Brennan Mitchell, Mt. Abram junior forward: The Roadrunners should challenge for another Gold Ball as they make the move to Class D, and in Mitchell, a 6-foot-5 forward, Mt. Abram returns a dominant presence in the post.

Killian Pillsbury, Mt. Abram senior guard: In addition to a top frontcourt threat in Mitchell, the Roadrunners also have Pillsbury, an elite outside shooter. The senior is an excellent distributor, averaging 5 assists last season.

Cam Pulkkinen, Oxford Hills senior wing: With Brayden Murch now at Phillips Exeter Academy and Brady Delamater having graduated, Pulkkinen, who averaged 10.4 points and 4.5 rebounds last season, is the Vikings’ top threat.

Colin Schlobohm, Leavitt junior forward: As a sophomore, Schlobohm was fifth in the KVAC in scoring at 17.5 points per game and led the conference in 3-point shooting percentage (49.2). He also averaged 6.8 rebounds.

Owen Smith, Dirigo senior guard: Always a threat in C South, the Cougars will be a strong shooting team. Expect Smith (9.6 points per game), their top returning scorer, to be in double figures on a regular basis.

Quentin Warrick, Gray-New Gloucester sophomore guard: The Patriots must fill a major void following the loss of star John Patenaude, but Warrick, a prototypical 3-and-D player, will look to thrive in a larger role.

Also keep an eye on: Connor Deprey, Telstar senior guard; Jacob Gibbs, Leavitt junior guard; Graham Huri, Winthrop sophomore forward; Dylan Jewett, Spruce Mountain junior guard; Dylan Theriault, Mountain Valley senior forward.
