LEWISTON — The Edward Little girls hockey co-op was happy to spread the wealth Saturday.

Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Oxford Hills got six goals from six scorers in the first period en route to an 11-1 victory over the rival Lewiston co-op at the Colisée. It was the 10th straight win for the Red Hornets, the consensus No. 1 team in the Varsity Maine poll.

“Our girls have embraced working hard from the beginning of the year, and they keep doing that,” said Red Hornets coach Dana Berube. “Monday (a 2-1 win over Yarmouth/Freeport) had some adversity but we handled it well. Tonight was different, but it’s about learning something from each game.”

In all, eight players scored for the Edward Little co-op on Saturday. Kylie Dulac had a hat trick, Myah Cyr scored twice, and Leksi Langevin, Sophia Drouin, Aubrey Fortin, Molly Theriault, Avalyn Martin and Kaylee Hudson had a goal each.

Lewiston (2-14) successfully kept the Red Hornets off the board over the first five minutes as Kaydence Jolin made a number of saves. Yet the Red Hornets broke the scoreless deadlock at the 5:39 park as Dulac assisted Langevin for the opening goal.

Three minutes later, Drouin scored to double the Red Hornets’ lead. Fortin made it 3-0 at the 9:58 mark, and Molly Theriault scored at 12:38. The Red Hornets (14-1) got goals from Cyr and Dulac in the final minute of the first to take a 6-0 lead into the second.

“We want to be playing a certain way — we’re trying to be an unselfish team and move the puck,” Berube said. “It’s a battle every night, and it’s never perfect, but they’re playing great, and they enjoy playing with each other.”

Martin, Dulac and Cyr scored in the second period to put the game in running time. Goals from Hudson and Dulac sandwiched a tally from Lewiston’s Julia Quagliaroli in the third to round out the scoring.

Langevin had three assists and Khloe Nadeau two for the Red Hornets, who got 10 saves from goalie Paige Fecteau in net. Jolin made 22 saves for Lewiston.
