Madison (10-9) used a 16-4 run in the first half to erase a seven-point deficit, then kept the lead for the rest of the game with a disruptive high-intensity press defense.

“We were stressing a little bit, but we just talked about it, got composed and went from there,” said Landry, who added six rebounds and three steals.

“We gain our energy from our defense,” Rich said. “In the first quarter, we weren’t really getting to our spots, getting to the help side as much, then when we were getting hands on balls, the energy starts feeding into it, it’s more of a better thing when we play uptempo.”

Carrabec (15-4) made it a two-possession game multiple times late in the fourth quarter, including 36-32 with 1:25 left, but Madison went 4 for 8 from the free-throw line to close it out.

Carrabec senior Anna Canales led all scorers with 14 points.
