The Paris Utility District continued to work Tuesday on the watermain along High Street in South Paris that burst Monday morning.

Water access was shut down between 32-77 High St. in South Paris on Monday and continued to be off as of early Tuesday afternoon.

District General Manager Tanya Dunn said crews were quickly able to isolate the problem to the area between Park and Porter streets. The only accounts currently impacted are on the section of High Street that runs between its intersections at those corners, Dunn said.

Kyle Komulainen, a worker at the site Tuesday morning, said the main likely froze and broke over the winter and shifted this week as the ground thawed. He expected the work would be finished sometime in the afternoon Tuesday.

Customers in the area will be put on a boil water order until further notice once water service is restored.

“Anytime there is a pressure loss in the system, it mandates flushing and sample testing,” Dunn said. “As soon as we receive results in the clear, we will cancel the boil order.”

Customers with questions, can call the Paris Utility District at 743-6251.
