LEWISTON — If you’ve noticed construction activity at 1675 Lisbon St., it’s excavation at the former Elks Lodge as the owner prepares to build between 400 and 450 self-serve storage units in 10 buildings.

Terry MacGillivray, who owns Cook’s Corner Self Storage in Brunswick, confirmed he’s moving forward with the development, which will also carry the Cook’s Corner brand.

MacGillivray also owns and operates East Conway Self Storage in Conway, New Hampshire.

Cook’s Corner Self Storage in Lewiston will incorporate the existing building for storage and offices, then add nine more buildings over the next two years for a total of 70,000 square feet. MacGillivray said he hopes to have a few of the buildings ready by mid-summer, adding that he is still looking for laborers for the build-out.

About 20,000 square feet of the facility will be climate-controlled, and MacGillivray estimates there will be between 400 and 450 storage units in the 10 buildings.
