The Portland Sea Dogs walked eight batters and hit two more in the second inning when they allowed 10 runs in a 12-7 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in their home opener on Tuesday at Hadlock Field in Portland.

New Hampshire scored its first eight runs without a hit. It finished the second inning with 10 runs on one hit.

Sea Dogs starting pitcher Hayden Mullins walked five in 1 2/3 innings and allowed five runs to take the loss. Jorge Juan also walked three batters and hit two without recording an out in the second for Portland.

Five Sea Dogs pitchers combined to walk 11 batters and strike out 19. Patrick Halligan struck out seven in three scoreless innings.

Portland took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Marvin Alcantara scored on wild pitch and Nelly Taylor hit a sacrifice fly.

Miguel Bleis hit a two run home for the Sea Dogs.
