The Phillips Select Board will hold a special election April 18 to fill one of three vacancies. Town Manager Maureen Haley said the three vacancies were expected, and measures were taken to ensure the town government would run as normal until the roles were filled.
The remaining members of the board are Janet White, Peter Campbell and Kenneth Bubier, who will be submitting resignation letters after tomorrow’s meeting. Eugene Caton and Barbara Barnes have already resigned.
Haley said the resignations were due to conflicts and one planned absence.
The board will hold a special meeting Wednesday, April 8, to gather with a quorum to sign the warrant for the April 18 meeting. Three out of the five members of the board are required for a quorum.
The two other board seats will be filled at the June 20 annual town meeting, and the seat held by the interim board member elected on April 18 will also be up for election.
