Sen. Elizabeth Warren will hold a rally for Graham Platner on Saturday, his campaign said Monday.
Warren, of Massachusetts, plans to talk about taking on billionaires and Wall Street, and Platner’s plans to “fight the system that is rigged against workers,” a campaign spokesperson said.
Warren endorsed Platner, a 41-year-old political newcomer, in Maine’s Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate, in March. Platner’s opponent, two-term Gov. Janet Mills, is supported by Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer of New York.
The rally comes less than two months before the June 9 primary.
The Sullivan oyster farmer and combat veteran has held double-digit leads in most independent polling, and has held over 50 town hall rallies since entering the race in August.
Shortly after announcing his run, Platner picked up an endorsement from Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. Sanders endorsed Platner at a Labor Day rally in Portland that drew about 6,500 people.
The rally with Warren will begin at 6:30 p.m. The location will be announced later, the campaign said.
