GARDINER — On Saturday, April 18, the legendary Second City Touring Co. will present its “Laugh Harder, Not Smarter” show at Johnson Hall Opera House.
“Featuring a hilarious array of classic sketch comedy and songs from the company’s rich history, fresh new favorites, as well as the signature brand of irreverent improv that The Second City is famous for,” say organizers.
Second City alumni include Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Amy Poehler, Jason Sudeikis, John Belushi, John Candy and many more.

Enjoy The Rumble and Chief Boudreaux in Bath
BATH — Grammy-nominated The Rumble featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. will take the stage at Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath on Friday, April 17.
The band, featuring world-class musicians and fronted by Boudreaux, “seamlessly blends past, present and future elements of New Orleans culture into its sound. … (The band features) a powerful synergy that captivates audiences with electrifying performances and call-and-response chanting rooted in Mardi Gras Indian traditions. Their music is a vibrant, authentic and original expansion of iconic styles pioneered by groups like The Meters, Wild Magnolias, and Neville Brothers,” organizers said.

See new artists’ works in Lewiston
LEWISTON — From April 17 to May 30, works by Bates College seniors will be on display at the Bates College Museum of Art as part of the Senior Thesis Exhibition.
The annual event by graduating seniors in studio art offers a wide variety of styles and subjects. “The emphasis of the program is on creating a cohesive body of related works through sustained studio practice and critical inquiry,” according to the college.
The free exhibition is at the Olin Arts Center, 75 Russell St.
Read with national author Shana Youngdahl in Farmington
FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington will present Shana Youngdahl as the final reader of the college’s Visiting Writers series for the spring semester.
Youngdahl will read from her work at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the Landing in the UMF Olsen Student Center. The reading is free and open to the public and will be followed by a book signing with the author.
Youngdahl is a fiction writer, poet and professor of creative writing at Lindenwood University. Her second novel, “A Catalog of Burnt Objects,” was inspired by the 2018 wildfires that devastated her hometown in Paradise, California. Her debut novel, “As Many Nows as I Can Get,” was named a Seventeen Best Books of the Year, a New York Public Library Top Ten Best Book of the Year and a Kirkus Best Book of the Year.

Attend the spring craft fair at the Lewiston Armory
LEWISTON — The annual Spring Artisan and Craft Fair at the Lewiston Memorial Library will be held Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The day of shopping and community will feature 55-plus vendors featuring handmade goods, crafts and unique gifts. Free admission and free parking. There will be a concession stand, a kids’ zone with bounce house and craft table, a vendor raffle and more.

Catch ‘The Secret Garden’ at CLT in Auburn
AUBURN — Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre’s adaptation of the classic story “The Secret Garden” ends its run this week, with shows Thursday through Sunday.
When a young girl is sent to live with her reclusive uncle in a gloomy Yorkshire estate, she discovers a hidden, neglected garden — and the power it holds to heal hearts and awaken spirits.
