LEWISTON — It’s that time of year for seasonal businesses to open in the Lewiston-Auburn area, and this week The Buzz has two of the favorites ready to serve you.
Friday is the official opening day for Val’s Drive-In at 925 Sabattus St., starting at 11:30 a.m. Regular hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Memorial Day, when Val’s will stay open later, depending on traffic.
Val’s has been family run for 52 years and has been around since 1959, when it was an A&W Root Beer franchise.

Frosted root beer mugs are back this season. A 16-ounce root beer served in a mason jar you can keep is $4.99. That price is also good for a kid’s meal of two Uncrustables and a drink. And pickle chips are available for the first time at Val’s to go alongside burgers.
Owner Chris Lawrence says he’s well aware that money is tight for many customers, so he’s keeping his prices the same as last year on all but three items.
You can order through Val’s Facebook page via DoorDash for pickup or delivery.
The batting cages are up and running and so are the carhops, who remain a fixture at Val’s, some of whom return every year right through college.
