Addie Paul, of Kingfield, a senior at Mt. Abram Regional High School, has been selected to receive the 2026 Principal’s Award, Principal Jodi Ellis announced. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

Paul has distinguished herself as an exceptional student who combines strong academic performance with meaningful involvement in her school and community, Ellis said. Currently ranked first in her class of 50 students, she has built an impressive academic record through hard work, curiosity, and perseverance.

Paul has a particular interest in science and mathematics, and her accomplishments in these areas have been recognized with honors such as the Rensselaer Medal and the RIT High School Award in Science and Math.

“Throughout her years at Mt. Abram, Addie has distinguished herself in the classroom, in athletics, and as a leader in both our school and the broader community,” Ellis said. “She exemplifies the very best of what this recognition represents, and she is incredibly deserving of this honor.”

In addition to her academic success, Paul plays an active role in school leadership and student life. She is a member of the National Honor Society, participates in Student Council, and serves as the senior student representative on the school board, where she helps bring student voice and perspective to important discussions. She contributes to creating a positive and inclusive school environment while also dedicating time to service, volunteering with the Economic Ministry, tutoring students through the Upchieve Program, and coaching youth through the Western Maine Soccer Association.

Paul has also been a committed athlete, participating in cross country, alpine skiing, and track and field during her high school career. She is known by her peers and coaches for her determination, positive attitude, and leadership, and she was honored as MVP by her teammates last year.

Paul, Ellis and other award winners and their principals attended an Honors Luncheon at Jeff’s Catering on April 11. The luncheon recognized outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and one of 10 $1,000 scholarships in the names of former Maine principals and MPA executive directors Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler and Richard A. Durost.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the Maine Principals’ Association, the professional organization representing the state’s school administrators.
