The defending Class C state champions appear capable of defending their title in 2026. The Black Bears return eight of their 11 starters, led by senior attack Alice Ferran (43 goals), junior attack Stella Stewart (40 goals and 31 assists), and senior midfielder Mya St. Pierre (22 goals and 12 assists). Junior Cooper Davis (27 goals and 13 assists) forced 45 turnovers and scooped up 114 ground balls last season. Newcomer Ingrid Stewart should also contribute to the offense, and coach Zach Stewart said Elise Bilodeau and Evelyn Mortimer of Winthrop have shown promise during the preseason.
2. Mt. Blue
The Cougars are confident entering the 2026 season after going 7-8 last spring. Despite losing nine seniors, some key seniors returning, including attacker Lily Huntley (49 goals, 24 assists) and attacker/midfielder Grace Allen (14 goals, 11 assists). Fellow senior Nina Bogor (five goals, two assists) is expected to contribute after missing a good portion of the 2025 season. Junior Reese Nye (three goals and one assist) is a player who forces turnovers with six last season. She won 13 draw controls and picked up 25 ground balls in 2025. Co-coach Catherine Zachary wants players to communicate on the field.
3. Edward Little
The Red Eddies have a new coach, Dave Frahm, and need to replace the prolific scoring of Izzy Hayes, who graduated after last year’s 3-11 season. Maddie Ranger and Lily Frahm are expected to lead the scoring attack, along with Avianna D’Auteuil, Blake Hamel and Kaylie Heath. Goalie Ruby Harris was a Sun Journal All-Region selection last year, and Dave Frahm said she is a quick and able to correct her mistakes.
