We’re proud to make high school sports coverage free for everyone—because these moments matter. At Maine State Credit Union, we’re here for the people and places that make Maine strong. Let’s Go! Learn more at mainestatecu.org.
1. Lewiston
The Blue Devils capped a strong 2025 season with the KVAC Large School championship and a second-place finish in the Class A state meet, proving they could contend with anyone in the region. Josia Katroli and Ritangel Silva graduated, but Lewiston is looking to pick up right where it left off and defend its conference title. That effort begins with seniors Larson Stone (110-meter hurdles, high jump, pole vault), Enzo Giampaolo (800, mile, 2-mile), Nsungui Mankatu (triple, long jump) and Fernando Kele (triple, long jump), all of whom have plenty of state championship reps.
2. Lisbon/Oak Hill
The Greyhounds won the Mountain Valley Conference championship and placed fourth in Class C last year. The junior tandem of Jacob Robertson (sprints, long jump) and Maleek Beaumier (sprints, high jump, long jump) should lead the way. Robertson, Beaumier and senior Griffin Turner were part of the 400 relay team that placed fourth at the state championships. Those three are joined by a cluster of seniors, including Jared Francis, Ryan Hanlon and Malachi Ganong, to give Lisbon/Oak Hill a strong upperclassmen presence.
3. Leavitt
The Hornets were KVAC Small School champions last year, and followed that up with a podium finish in the Class C state meet. It will be difficult to top that success, especially with the graduation of Stephen Pierre and Noah Gibbs, but the team has athletes prepared to fill that void. Senior Mason Henderson (sprints) and junior Angelo Toscano (pole vault, sprints) will look to replicate last year’s strong performances. Henderson came in third in the KVAC 100-meter dash, while Toscano was second in the pole vault.
4. Winthrop
Winthrop was right there with Lisbon/Oak Hill at the top of the MVC last season, the two schools separated by just three points for the conference championship. The Ramblers also finished seventh in Class C, and they should be right back in contention with returning athletes like senior Jacob Feith (throws), the reigning Class C javelin champion, and Ben Porter (sprints), who won the MVC 100-meter dash. Feith was a Sun Journal All-Region selection last season.
5. Edward Little
The Red Eddies are coming off a third-place finish at the KVAC Large School championships. They’ll again be up against tough competition from foes like Lewiston, but they just may turn some heads this spring, especially with a larger team than they’ve had in the recent past. Edward Little will lean on junior Thomas LeBlanc (pole vault, hurdles, jumps) and senior Harper Borden (distance), as well as an influx of freshmen who have competed in track and field before.
