Our Communities. Our Teams. Our Future.
We’re proud to make high school sports coverage free for everyone—because these moments matter. At Maine State Credit Union, we’re here for the people and places that make Maine strong. Let’s Go! Learn more at mainestatecu.org.
1. Lisbon/Oak Hill
The Greyhounds finished seventh in Class C and claimed the Mountain Valley Conference championship last year, and they are in position to contend for another title, especially with a high number of returning athletes who contributed to their success. Junior Tayen Smith, the MVC triple jump champion, and sophomore Branwyn Obptande, the reigning conference and state race walk champ, will anchor Lisbon/Oak Hill’s efforts, along with juniors Abigail Gervais (distance/pole vault), Riley Kuietauskas (discus throw/shot put) and Christina Pulsifer (discus throw).
2. Leavitt
The Hornets won the KVAC Small School title by 22 points, then placed eighth in Class B. Even with the graduation of key athletes like Olivea Miller and Heather Mousseau, Leavitt should be a contender again. That effort begins with the senior duo of Carina Castagna (jumps/hurdles/sprints) and Haley Marston (distance), who both had success at the conference and state championships. Sophia Poulin is another key returner. She placed in the top five in the high jump and 100 hurdles at the conference championships.
3. Winthrop
The Ramblers are aiming to improve on last year’s third-place showing at MVCs and 11th-place finish at the Class C championships. One key returner is sophomore Evelyn Mortimer, who made strong showings as a freshman in the 100 and 300 hurdles at the conference and state meets. Another sophomore coming off a solid high school debut is Grace Folsom, who will look to rack up points in the hurdles as well as the discus and triple jump.
4. Mt. Blue
It’s not hard to envision success for the Cougars when they have one of the state’s rising stars in sophomore Karoline Gonzales. She won the 100-meter dash and placed second in the 200 at the KVAC championships, and tallied second- and eighth-place finishes, respectively, in those events at the state meet. Mt. Blue can also rely on juniors Lily Jackson (race walk) and Isobel Hanson (hurdles).
5. Mt. Abram
The Roadrunners return several key athletes, including sophomore Evelyn Pepin, who excels in sprints and jumps. Seniors Maddie Luce (sprints) and Addie Paul (distance running) are looking for strong finishes to their high school careers.
