A 14-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured Friday evening in a crash involving a pickup truck.
Mechanic Falls police say the teen was taken by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland after she was hit by a 2024 Dodge pickup truck on North Street just after 7 p.m. Friday.
Mechanic Falls police Chief Paul Schroeder said Monday that the girl was awake and recovering in the hospital.
Schroeder said he was glad the teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which significantly “improved her chances” of making a full recovery.
Police declined to release further information about the crash, including what may have led to the incident, as they continue to investigate.
No charges have been filed against the pickup driver as of Monday, Schroeder said.
