ANSWER: We must keep a good thing going! Invite your friends and enjoy the time together. I love that homemade pies are always part of the equation with these meals. What is everybody’s favorite? And are you allowed to pick your piece of pie first, before loading your plate with the main course items?

I’m asking because when I was a little girl, folks gathered at the church hall for the monthly potluck supper, where we filed past the tiered display rack of tempting wedges of pie. One of my earliest memories is my grandfather lifting me high in the air to reach a slice of lemon meringue pie that was on the top shelf. This is one of my earliest memories and lemon meringue is still my favorite pie!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Friends of the Lewiston Public Library Annual Meeting will be held at Callahan Hall, 200 Lisbon St., on Thursday, May 14, at 1:30 p.m. After a short meeting to conduct the annual business of the Friends, all are welcome to hear from our featured guest, Rachel Ferrante, the head of the Maine Mill Museum. Rachel has been the executive director of the museum since September 2021, and oversees all aspects of the museum, including exhibitions and programming, fundraising, finance, human resources, visitor services, communications and board development. — Elizabeth, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club is holding a Shredding Fundraiser Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the John F. Murphy Homes Office at 800 Center St. in Auburn. 

This will be an opportunity for folks and businesses to safely dispose of financial papers or confidential documents that shouldn’t be discarded in the regular trash. All documents will be securely shredded immediately onsite. 

Anyone who has 10 boxes or more can request that Rotary volunteers pick them up that morning. The suggested donation is $10 per box or tote. All proceeds support Rotary community charities! Contact the Rotary at [email protected]. — Roger, no town
