Voters in Greenwood will vote at town meeting May 16 to decide on the $2.4 million budget and 33 articles.

“Town, school and county are up about 5%,” said Town Manager Kim Sparks.

Voting will be held at the American Legion Post 68, 595 Gore Road at 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, three Greenwood Planning Board members have recently stepped down. Sparks confirmed that David Newcomb and Matt Mitchell resigned after serving about five years.

When Greenwood Code Enforcement Officer Anne Kwoka resigned, her husband, John, stepped down from his planning board position so she could join. Sparks said that while it is legal for a husband and wife to serve together, it is not advised.

Eric Giroux replaced Kwoka as code officer.

This year’s annual report is dedicated to Marie Bartlett, who served on the planning board and started a recycling committee and swap shop in Greenwood.

Voters will decide on 33 articles. One is an amendment to the town of Greenwood Shoreland Zoning Ordinance. Article 23 asks voters to designate an 18-acre lot on West Paris Road — the “Finnish Picnic Grounds” parcel — as conservation land. If passed, the town will partner with Western Foothills Land Trust to maintain the property.
