A Lewiston man was being held on $10,000 cash bail Monday morning after gunshots were fired Sunday in the Ash and Howe streets area of Lewiston.
Witnesses reported that two groups of teens, or young adults, were shooting at one another Sunday afternoon, according to the Lewiston Police Department’s Facebook post. No one was injured, however several bullets struck nearby vehicles and buildings, according to the post.
Following an investigation police arrested Jayden Shaw, 21, on Sunday on charges of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and aggravated criminal mischief. A conviction on each charge carries a maximum five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.
About 3 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the area of Ash and Howe streets for a report of gunfire in the area. Police located numerous shell casings.
Shaw was being held at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn on Monday morning in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. He was expected to appear before a judge on Monday for an initial appearance.

Over the past few weeks, police have arrested several people, including juveniles, after shots were fired in areas of Lewiston.
