Kyeria Morse struck out 16 and pitched a shutout as Oxford Hills defeated Edward Little 4-0 in a showdown of two of the top softball teams in the state Monday in Paris.

The unbeaten Vikings (10-0) are ranked second and the Red Eddies (9-3) fifth in the Varsity Maine poll.

Morse scattered five hits and walked one in seven innings. She also had a hit and drove in a run. Karyssa Morse added two hits and two RBI, while Peyton Campbell doubled, singled and scored twice.

Edward Little ace Chloe LeBlanc also had a solid outing in the circle, striking out nine and allowing seven hits in six innings.

BUCKFIELD 21, CARRABEC 8: Sophia St. Pierre had three hits, including a triple, and drove in run fours as the Bucks (8-2) cruised to a win over the Cobras (5-6) in North Anson. 

Grace Veinott added three hits, including a double, and an RBI for Buckfield. Chloee Bennett also doubled, while Daisy Vining had three hits, two RBI and scored three times.

Kaitlin Dellarma had a double and a triple for Carrabec. Karen Baker and Jillian Robinson each added two hits. 

GREELY 11, POLAND 7: Katie Wallace hit a two-run homer, Presley Allard, Rosemary Faunce and Evelyn Kirby also drove in two runs, and the Rangers (4-4) handled the Knights (7-4) in Cumberland.

The Rangers scored all of their runs in the first three innings, including four in the first and five in the second, while holding off a 12-hit attack by Poland.

Phoebe Paradis had three hits and scored twice, Gabby Lenahan hit two doubles and Meghan Komanetsky had two hits with two runs scored for Poland.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 8, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 6: Jordan Nash had three hits and two RBI, Aurora Blier drove in three runs, and the Panthers (9-1) defeated the Patriots (3-6) in Yarmouth.

Cami Casserly added two hits and two RBI.

Madalyn Patrick hit a three-run homer, while Piper Aube and Valerie Farrar had two hits for the Patriots.

LISBON 5, MADISON 4: Aubriana Bright scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth to give the Greyhounds (8-1) a victory over the Bulldogs (4-6) in Lisbon.

Bright finished with two hits and scored twice. Brynn Chase also had two hits for Lisbon. Emma Bourgoin earned the win, striking out six in five innings of relief.

Madison pitcher Jillian Linkletter fanned seven in six innings.

BASEBALL

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 16, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 1: Jake Harmon went 4 for 5 with a home run and five RBI to lead the Mustangs (9-1) to a six-inning victory over the Falcons (5-3) in Rumford.

Among Harmon’s four hits were a two-run homer and a two-run single. He also scored three runs. Noah Schultz was 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Rory Foyt drove in three runs and Logan LeClair singled twice.

Three Monmouth pitchers combined for a one-hitter. Kyle LePage struck out three in 3 2/3 innings, Jacobi Apodaca fanned three in 1 1/3 innings, and Logan LeClair got the final two outs and struck out one.

Josh Pollis had Mountain Valley’s lone hit.

TRAIP ACADEMY 7, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 3: Sean Webster pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out 10 and walking two to lead the Rangers (1-8) past the Phoenix (2-6) in Kittery.

Mason Ankeny had two hits and an RBI for Traip, which scored five times in the second inning. 

Cayden Ball had two hits and an RBI for Spruce Mountain. 

OXFORD HILLS 13, EDWARD LITTLE 1: Tucker Hilden drove in three runs and the Vikings (9-1) had 15 hits in a five-inning victory over the Red Eddies (6-6) in Paris.

Hilden was one of eight Oxford Hills players with an RBI. Jacoby Boyce (2 for 2)  belted two doubles and drove in two runs, while Colton Jendrick doubled and had two RBI. Gunner Truman and Cam Pulkkinen each doubled and notched a RBI, while Finley Cavers, Ryder Kennison and Carter Davis drove in one run apiece.

Jendrick went 3 for 3, and Truman, Cavers, Boyce and Jacob Turcotte finished with two hits apiece.

Vikings pitchers Hilden (three innings), Davis (one inning) and Logan Norris (one inning) combined to hold the Red Eddies to two hits.

Dom Dumais tripled and scored Edward Little’s only run.

POLAND 5, GREELY 3: Shawn West had three hits, including a double, and drove in the first run of the game to kickstart the Knights (5-6) in their win over the Rangers (5-3) in Cumberland.

Poland led the entire game after grabbing an early 3-0 lead with one run in the first and two in the second.

Knights starter Elliot Rioux scattered six hits over 5 2/3 innings. Aiden Bean pitched the final 1 1/3 innings and picked up a save.

Ben Kyles hit a home run and doubled for Greely. Jarrett Bush and Rocky Axelson each had a double, and Connor Skillin finished with two hits.

LEAVITT 3, MT. BLUE 0: Trent Holst hit a home run and struck out 11 to lead Leavitt (10-1) to a victory over the Cougars (6-3) in Farmington.

Each team finished with four hits as Holst won a pitchers’ duel with Mt. Blue starter Karter Meader. Holst walked three and allowed two hits in six innings, while Meader gave up two hits, fanned five and walked three in six innings. Ryder Sawyer-Brown pitched the final inning for Leavitt and earned a save.

Sawyer-Brown drove in the Hornets’ first run with a double that scored Holst in the third inning. Holst made it a 3-0 lead with a two-run homer in the top of the seventh.

LISBON 11, MADISON 7: The Greyhounds (5-3) overtook the Bulldogs (2-8) with a six-run bottom of the sixth inning to earn a Mountain Valley Conference victory in Lisbon.

JT Hoyle went 2 for 2 and drove in three runs for Lisbon. Cyrus Tefft and Spencer Franks both doubled and drove in a pair of runs, and Jeff Tuplin tripled and had an RBI.

Nolan Parker pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win. Starter Lincoln Matthews struck out eight in 4 2/3 innings.

Landon Dunham was 2 for 4 with a double, three RBI and two runs for Madison, which led 7-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth. Griffin Dickey and Skyler Aldrich both doubled and drove in a run. Dickey started on the mound for the Bulldogs and fanned eight in five innings.
