Camden native Cole Anderson earned his first PGA Tour Americas victory on Sunday, beating Patrick Flaven in a playoff at the Peru Open in Lima, Peru.
Anderson, 25, finished the tournament 21-under 267, shooting 65 in the final round Sunday to force a playoff. He was tied for seventh after the third round, five shots behind Flaven, who shot 70 in the final round.
“I didn’t really know until late that I had a chance,” Anderson told the PGA Americas website. “I knew it was going to take a low one. I honestly thought it would need to be lower.”
Anderson bogeyed the par-4 18th hole in the playoff, but Flaven double bogeyed.
PGA Tour Americas is a developmental tour for players trying to qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour and ultimately the PGA Tour. Anderson is currently tied for second on the PGA Tour Americas points list, behind Flaven. He has made the cut in two of three tournaments he has played and earned $41,237 in prize money.
