LEWISTON – Constance “Connie” Levesque-Silva, 79, of Lewiston passed away in hospice care on May 26, 2026.

Connie was born in Lewiston to Bernadette and Roland “Joe Pete” Levesque on March 21, 1947. She grew up on Bartlett Street with her younger sisters, Patricia and Madeleine, and her brother Roland.

Connie attended Saint Peter’s Catholic School and then Lewiston High School where she graduated in 1965. She then joined the U.S. Army and served as a medic at Fort Knox, Kentucky during the Vietnam War, earning a good conduct medal for her three years (1965-1968) of service.

After the military, Connie attended Alvin Junior College in Houston, Texas, thanks to the G.I. Bill. After two years, she became a registered nurse and continued to live in Houston during the early 1970s.

After a short marriage to her first husband, Steve Austin, Connie met the charming and fun-loving Richard Silva who was then working for a Houston insurance company. They soon married and relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana where Richard had graduated from Xavier College. He returned to work as a telephone line technician for Southern Bell while Connie continued her nursing career.

Throughout the 1970’s, 80’s, and 90’s, their lives found them moving around the South, usually between Louisiana and Florida, with one cold winter (1988-1989) spent living on Davis Avenue in Auburn. Good times were spent traveling around the U.S. in their Volkswagen van, visiting beaches, mountains, and (of course) bars or flying around in small single-engine planes.

While Connie continued nursing in numerous hospitals, Richard primarily worked for Southern Bell until his health declined due to bouts with skin cancer. He passed in New Orleans on Sept. 18, 1996.

From the late 1990’s, Connie began to split time between New Orleans (winters) and Lewiston (summers), enjoying her retirement with family and friends. Around 2019, she moved permanently to Lewiston and liked nothing better than going out to lunch and socializing.

She was very creative and liked to keep her hands busy, creating many beautiful works of cross-stitch art. She often gifted new babies born into the family with blankets she had made, welcoming them to the world.

Connie was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and husband Richard.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Elaine Levesque and many nieces and nephews and their children and pets. She especially enjoyed giving treats to the pets, particularly when those treats were supposed to be forbidden!

Connie’s extended family will host a celebration of life gathering at a date to be determined.
