Kentucky Fried Chicken at 63 Center St. in Auburn has closed effective Monday morning.
An employee who answered the phone said they were told Monday morning about the closure, but would not say why or if the closure is permanent.
However, all the signs and logos are gone, taken down apparently early Monday morning. An employee at a nearby business said there were still customers going through the restaurant Sunday night. Furniture and equipment could be seen through the windows.
A sign affixed to the door stated, “This location is closed, please go to the KFC Taco Bell location at 1201 Lisbon St.” Calls to that location went straight to voicemail.

Kentucky Fried Chicken is owned by Yum Brands, based in Louisville, Kentucky, which also owns Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. Calls and emails to Yum Brands have not been returned.
