Samantha McPhail tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and Lou Morse hit a go-ahead RBI single, lifting Oxford Hills to a 3-2 win over Skowhegan in a Class A North softball game Tuesday in Paris.
Oxford Hills (14-2), the No. 3 team in the Varsity Maine Top 10, avenged one of its two losses. Skowhegan (11-5) defeated the Vikings 5-3 on May 22.
The visiting River Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third when Charlotte Haynie scored on an error and Maesyn Atherton hit an RBI single.
Oxford Hills got a run back in the bottom of the third.
Kyeria Morse pitched a complete game for the Vikings, allowing two unearned runs on four hits while striking out nine and walking two.
LEAVITT 11, ERSKINE ACADEMY 8: The Hornets (10-5) scored five times in the fifth inning to rally past the Eagles (10-6) in Turner.
Gabby Smith led Leavitt’s offense with a double, a triple, three RBI and a run scored. Brooke Boutaugh and Cayleigh Rose both had two hits and two RBI. Charlee Pelletier and Leah Johnson each had a double, and Hailey Cyr belted a triple.
Kelsie Dunn and Kammie Thompson both had two hits and three RBI for Erskine. Lilly Clark recorded three hits.
BUCKFIELD 11, VINALHAVEN 0: Daisy Vining tossed a no-hitter and struck out 11 in a five-inning victory for the Bucks (13-2) against the Vikings (12-3) in Buckfield.
Chloee Bennett drove in a team-high three runs for Buckfield. Brooklyn Richardson singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs, while Sophie St. Pierre singled twice and notched a RBI.
Olivia Philbrook pitched a complete game with three strikeouts for the Vikings.
BUCKFIELD 12, SACOPEE VALLEY 3: Grace Veinott belted a three-run homer in the first inning to kick-start the Bucks (14-2) against the Hawks (6-10) in Buckfield.
Chloee Bennett and Addie Morris each recorded two hits and drove in two runs for Buckfield, which was playing its second game of the day. Brooklyn Richardson added a double and an RBI.
Daisy Vining struck out 10 batters to pick up the victory. She allowed three hits and three runs while walking five.
Sierra Gray, Avery Lajoie and Charlotte Cyr each doubled for Sacopee Valley.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 10, HALL-DALE 9: The Phoenix (7-6) scored five times in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally to a win over the Bulldogs (5-10) in Jay.
Laya Spear had three hits and drove in the tying and winning runs with a one-out single in the seventh. Ashley Nelson and Sophie Foss contributed two hits apiece, and Bella Chretien drove in two runs.
Claire Kapinos and Genevieve Ciccarelli both had three hits for Hall-Dale. Natalie James and Haylie Stevens each added two hits, and Madalyn Coro had three RBI.
BASEBALL
HALL-DALE 11, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 2: Isaac Fogg was 3 for 5 with three RBI and Carson Mattice pitched a complete game as the Bulldogs (8-7) beat the Phoenix (2-12) in Livermore Falls.
Mattice allowed two earned runs on four hits while walking one and striking out 10. Logan Norton added two hits and scored twice.
Trent Lovewell had three hits, including a double, for Spruce Mountain.
OXFORD HILLS 11, SKOWHEGAN 1: Cam Pulkkinen drove home five runs for the Vikings (15-1) in a five-inning win over the River Hawks (4-12) in Paris.
Pulkkinen tripled with the bases loaded in the third inning and scored on a single by Finley Cavers. Oxford Hills, ranked No. 3 in the Varsity Maine Top 10, added four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Gunner Truman doubled and recorded an RBI. Jacoby Turcotte notched two hits and an RBI.
John Johnson’s single in the second inning drove in Skowhegan’s run.
LEAVITT 10, ERSKINE ACADEMY 0: Randan Hutchinson singled home two runs in the fourth inning and hit a walk-off RBI double in the fifth, leading the Hornets (13-2) to a five-inning win over the Eagles (4-12) in Turner.
Hunter Holst belted a triple and brought home two runs. Ryder Sawyer-Brown recorded three singles and an RBI. On the mound, Sawyer-Brown struck out 11, walked four and only allowed one hit, by Ben Severy.
BUCKFIELD 10, VINALHAVEN/NORTH HAVEN 0: Breydan Ridlon pitched a one-hitter and Nate Thomas had three hits, three runs and three RBI as the Bucks (10-5) blanked the Vikings (4-8) in five innings in Buckfield.
Ridlon struck out nine and didn’t allow a walk. Thomas’ three hits were a single, a double and a triple. Ryder Bragg finished 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI, and Colby Belanger went 3 for 3.
Jaxon Hutchinson got Vinalhaven/North Haven’s only hit. Starting pitcher Javin Poole fanned six in three innings.
SACOPEE VALLEY 9, BUCKFIELD 3: Braiden Croteau limited the Bucks (10-6) to four hits while striking out five batters to help the Hawks (8-7) earn a road win in Buckfield.
Croteau and Tanner Hale drove in two runs apiece, while Donovan Harvey, Keegan Day (double), Cooper Berkowitz and Isiah Nelson each finished with two hits for Sacopee Valley, which scored six runs in the fifth inning and three in the seventh.
Krosby Harvey doubled and knocked in a run for Buckfield, which was playing its second game of the day.
