Eva Anne Stalmuke

RUMFORD – Eva Anne Stalmuke, 79, previously of Rumford, Maine, went Home to her Lord on May 23, 2026. Eva was born on April 5, 1947, in Rumford, to Constantine John “Gus” Stalmuke and Frances Stalmuke. Eva grew up in Rumford on Knox Street with her lifelong best friend, Nora Downs, as her neighbor.

Eva graduated from Stephens High School in 1965 and was married shortly after. Her family grew to five children who were all amazingly born on the 24th of a different month; keeping her busy for the next few years until her youngest daughter went to school and then she started to work at the paper mill until 2006.

Eva’s love for animals began as a child when she and Nora would take care of her Grammy Annies’ birds every Saturday and thus began the animal rescue hospital that she kept on her porch at home. As an adult, Eva always had at least one dog as her faithful companion.

Eva was generous to a fault especially for birthdays and Christmas, as well as for her creativity through crafts and baking. Other hobbies she loved included gardening, building puzzles and playing games, especially if her grandchildren were involved.

She is survived by her son, Jeffery Hotham and his wife Marie of Southampton, Mass, and her daughters, Kelly Ellis and her husband Todd of Buxton, Kristen Frost and son-in-law Keith of North Monmouth, Kerry Kaplan and her husband Steve of North Monmouth, Kimberly Russell and her husband Andrew of Rumford, and Kathleen (Thibault) Spooner and her husband Matthew of Dover-Foxcroft; and Nora Downs and her spouse Richard.

She is also survived by her numerous grandchildren, Michael Hotham, Elizabeth Reed and her husband Christopher, Catherine Abood and her husband Jon, Britney Ellis, Mike Ellis, Nicole Collins and her husband Kyle, Gabriela Frost, Emily Kaplan, Casey Kaplan, Kalee Broomhall, Ashley Turner and her husband Cameron, Madison Russell, Matthew David Spooner, and Meghan Spooner; and by her three great-grandchildren, Annabella Collins, Waylon Nelson, and Caroline Reed.

Eva was predeceased by her parents Constantine and Frances Stalmuke; and a sister Constance Cassidy.

Friends and family are invited to share memories of Eva at http://www.meaderandson.com Visitation hours for Eva will be on Thursday June 25, 2026 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Meader & Son at 3 Franklin Street, Rumford.
