Roland Metivier
LEWISTON – Roland Metivier, 82, of Lewiston, Maine, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026. Born May 3, 1944, to Oscar and Lucienne Metivier, Roland was raised in the warmth of a proud French-Canadian family where love was expressed most fully around the table.
His father, a gifted chef, taught him to cook almost anything; his mother, grandmother Yvonne, and Aunt Martha filled his childhood with the scent of fresh bread and homemade jam. A Sunday visit to the Metiviers always meant a homemade feast.
A man of extraordinary service and ambition, Roland enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably as a Vietnam War veteran. He later served his community as a police officer in Hartford, Conn. Driven by an unrelenting desire to grow, he earned a Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management, building a distinguished career as a CEO in healthcare administration.
Above every achievement, Roland’s greatest pride was his five children. He celebrated Timothy for his athleticism and work ethic as an air traffic controller, magician, and business owner; Angelique for her intelligence, singing, writing, and baking; Aimee for her business acumen, cooking, and strength; Michaela for her talent in singing and devotion to her family; and Roland (RJ) for his intellect and cherished friendship.
Roland lived with the spirit of a man who knew how to savor life. He was never far from an adventure — whether casting a line on a quiet fishing trip, cheering his team on game day, feeling the thrill of the racetrack, or chasing the excitement of Las Vegas. He loved the beach, the open air, and any table where good food and good company came together. In the kitchen, he was in his element, carrying forward the culinary legacy his father had placed in his hands so many years before.
