DEAR SUN SPOTS: Mexico Congregational Church UCC, also known as “the Green Church,” at 163 Main St., will have an Indoor/Outdoor Sale and a Bake Sale on Saturday, June 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will be a great time to pick up household goods for home or camp. There will also be an ample supply of books and puzzles.

The Bake Sale will be held in the dining room, which is accessed from the Mitchell Street entrance, and the elevator entrance is on that street. 

Proceeds of the sales will help repay the Small Business Association loan for the church’s recovery after the flood of December 2024. For further information, the church’s phone number is 364-8603.

ANSWER: This sounds like a great fundraiser, and I’m glad you mentioned finding things for camp, as I don’t believe folks always think of that. It sounds like there will be some goodies to be had! 

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My husband and I met some wonderful people Wednesday, May 27. He had a follow-up appointment for a procedure he had had the week before and the physician’s assistant was fantastic, answered all our questions, and made us feel at ease. 

We stopped by another doctor’s office to renew a prescription and tell them what pharmacy to send it to. The receptionist said it was easier to do this in person than to phone it in—another nice person. 

We decided to extend the good day by going to lunch. Walking to the restaurant, my husband, who has very bad eyesight, tripped on the curb and fell. He didn’t fall on his hands and knees, but crumpled and fell on his back, almost hitting his head. Before I could even try to lift him up, six to eight people surrounded us and a nice lady took his pulse. The men in the group (restaurant workers and passersby) helped to get him up. They were all such wonderful people. 

We entered the restaurant and while waiting for our food to arrive, one of the workers who helped us came by to check on my husband. Our experience with the nice people in this world was not over yet. When it was time to pay the bill, we were told someone had paid our tab. We will pay it forward. We met a lot of nice people that day! — Eva, no town
