The Museums of the Bethel Historical Society and the Independence 250 Committee will host a celebration in Bethel in honor of the 250th anniversary of American Independence.
The festivities will run Saturday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Bethel Village.
The traditional Fourth of July Community Picnic and Concert will be expanded into a full day of festivities.
A parade will start in the morning, followed by a concert by the Portland Brass Quintet, games and activities, and a reading of the Declaration of Independence.
10 a.m. — Parade kicks off at River Lanes and heads up Main Street.
11 a.m. — Community program on the lawn of the Mason House, including a concert by the Portland Brass Quintet, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, children’s games and activities, and light refreshments and snacks available for purchase.
The Shy, Novice, and Closeted Art Show and the Bethel Area Arts and Music Art Fair will be held the same day.
