Thornton Academy’s run to the Class A championship earns it the unanimous No. 1 ranking in the final Varsity Maine girls lacrosse poll. This is the Golden Trojans’ first time topping the poll. Of the teams who finish spring 2026 at the top of one of the four Varsity Maine polls, Thornton is the only one to to have not been ranked No. 1 at some point earlier in the season.
Kennebunk is the only other team to be ranked No. 1 this spring. The Golden Trojans were ranked second from May 19 through June 2 before dropping to third behind Windham in the most recent poll, on June 9.
