Richard “Rick” Turner Jr.

LAFAYETTE, La. – Richard “Rick” Turner Jr. was born on Jan. 6, 1954, to Richard and Ethelyn Turner in Norway Maine. Rick grew up in South Paris. He passed away on May 3, 2026, in Lafyette La.

Rick graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1972. He enlisted in the Marine Corp. in August of 1972 where he became a helicopter mechanic. After he was honorably discharged from the Marines, he attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University where he obtained his civilian certification as a helicopter mechanic. Rick was hired by Petroleum Helicopters out of Lafyette La. where he spent the rest of his life.

Rick soon joined the First Lutheran Church and became very active, helping around the church and assisting with trips for its various groups. In 2014, he joined the Family Lutheran Church where he stayed until his passing.

Rick was predeceased by his father, Richard Sr.; sister, Kathy and her husband Armand, and niece Amy Adams.

He is survived by his mother, Ethelyn; brother, Percy, brother, Danny and his wife Kathy, brother, Tim and his wife Wendy; and many nieces and nephews.

A committal will be held at the Damon Cemetery in Buckfield on June 28 at 11 a.m.
