A motorcyclist from New Gloucester was killed early Thursday morning on Route 26 in Oxford after a pickup truck turned into his path, Police Chief Rickie Jack said.
Rodney Adair, 62, of New Gloucester was riding south on Main Street, Route 26, when a pickup truck driven north by Paul Gaudreau, 37, of Oxford, turned into his travel lane, Jack said.
Adair, who was riding alone and wearing a helmet, was rushed to MaineHealth Stephens Hospital in Norway, where he died soon after the 2:10 a.m. collision, the chief said.
Gaudreau was arrested near the scene and booked at the Oxford County Jail in Paris on charges of manslaughter, operating under the influence and aggravated reckless conduct, Jack said.
A corrections office said late Thursday afternoon that Gaudreau is being held at the jail on $30,000 cash bail.
The investigation into the crash is continuing, Jack said.
