Sydney Brunelle, Cheverus junior midfielder
Brunelle was an offensive standout for a team that almost beat No. 1 seed Kennebunk in the Class A semifinals. She tallied 108 points (65 goals, 43 assists). Brunelle has committed to NCAA Division I program Bucknell.
Liv Clark, Greely sophomore goalkeeper
Clark was a strong last line of defense for the Rangers, finishing the season with a save percentage of 60 for the Class B champions, who only allowed four goals per game. Clark limited opponents to an average of three goals during the playoffs.
Madeline Dowling, Kennebunk senior midfielder/defender
One of three USA Lacrosse All-Americans for the Rams, Dowling tallied 55 goals and added six assists. She also had 96 draw controls. Dowling will continue her lacrosse career at Division III Middlebury College.
Lily Howes, Scarborough sophomore attack
Howes was the top offensive threat for the Red Storm. She finished with 71 goals and 11 assists, and has 108 goals in just 30 career games. Howes’ 130 draw controls were nearly double the number from her freshman season and increased her career total to 208.
Camdyn Keenan, Kennebunk senior attack
A multi-time All-American, Keenan totaled 93 points for a team that fell just short of winning a second straight Class A title. She racked up 37 goals and 56 assists, and ended her career with 353 points, a school record. She will continue her lacrosse career at Division II Florida Institute of Technology.
Oceanna LaMarre, Thornton Academy junior midfielder/attack
LaMarre was the top scorer for the Class A champion Golden Trojans, with 97 points (62 goals, 35 assists). She also won 104 draw controls. A two-time SMAA All-Conference selection, LaMarre has committed to play at Division I UMass Lowell following her high school career.
Olivia Lamey, Thornton Academy sophomore midfielder
A two-way midfielder, Lamey was an asset on both sides of the field for the Class A champions. The sophomore tallied 69 points (46 goals, 23 assists), collected 49 ground balls and had 50 draw control wins. She was also named SMAA all-conference for the second straight year.
Neve Ledbetter, Windham senior midfielder
An All-American, Ledbetter was a two-way threat for one of the state’s best programs during her career. This spring, she tallied 56 goals and 42 assists (98 points) and won 90 draw controls. She also collected 50 ground balls. She’ll continue her career at Division II Southern New Hampshire University.
Anna McCarron, Kennebunk senior midfielder/attack
McCarron, a multi-time All-American, was one of Kennebunk’s top offensive threats, as she tallied 56 goals and added six assists. She finished her career with 139 points, which includes 131 goals. She will play Division I lacrosse at the University of New Hampshire.
Maddy Poitras, Marshwood senior midfielder
A three-year SMAA All-Conference selection, Poitras led the Hawks with 78 goals and 21 assists. She also had 111 draw controls and 49 ground balls. She’ll be playing lacrosse at Division III Saint Joseph’s College in Standish next season.
Stella Stewart, Maranacook/Winthrop junior midfielder
Stewart, an All-American, has been a consistent presence in the lineup for the two-time Class C champions. This spring, she recorded 41 goals and 54 assists. She also had 176 draw controls and collected 111 ground balls. The KVAC Class C co-Player of the Year, Stewart is a Division I commit to Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Abby Trainor, Windham senior attack
The Varsity Maine Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year for the second straight season, Trainor led the Eagles with 93 goals and 58 assists and had 84 draw controls during the regular season. She also surpassed the 400-point mark in early June, the first girls lacrosse player in Maine to do so. A multi-time All-American, Trainor will continue her career at Division I Fairfield University in Connecticut.
Coach of the Year
Kelly Foley, Thornton Academy: The Golden Trojans didn’t reach the playoffs two seasons ago. After falling to Kennebunk earlier this spring, Thornton Academy went on a magical run that ended with a 9-8 win over the Rams on June 20 to give the program its first state title. The Golden Trojans finished with a 15-2 record.
