Steer yourself toward Paris’ annual Founder’s Day celebration
PARIS — The much-loved Annual Founder’s Day & Classic Car Exhibit will take place Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Paris Hill.
Supporting the Hamlin Library and Museum, the showpiece of the charity event is The Bahre Collection of antique and classic cars. The collection, housed at the birthplace of Hannibal Hamlin, Abraham Lincoln’s first vice president, is open once a year to the public on Founder’s Day.
The collection of over 50 vehicles includes one of the world’s finest assemblages of Packards, as well as many American and foreign classics, the original Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang II from 1921, and later-model sports cars.
Founder’s Day festivities include a crafts fair, food vendors and much more. Donations for admission to The Bahre Collection are $15 for adults and $2 for children 12 and younger.

Catch Stream Reggae at Bates College’s quad
LEWISTON — On Thursday, July 16, from 6-8 p.m. Stream Reggae is officially returning to Concert on the Quad at Bates College seven years after their memorable 2019 show.
Stream Reggae offers the authentic, high-energy sounds of the Caribbean. Founded in 1997 by singer-songwriter Nyah, a veteran musician from St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and now of Maine, “the band was born out of a lifelong passion for roots reggae, dancehall, soca, and zouk,” say organizers.
The event is free and open to the public. People are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and join the fun on the campus quad next to 23 Campus Ave.
Hear 3 Maine singer-songwriters in Paris
PARIS — On Saturday, July 18, from 7:30-9 p.m. Celebration Barn Theater will present “An Evening of Song, featuring Skip Bailey, Sigrid Sibley, and Sara Trunzo.”
“All three have roots in folk and traditional music, and each one branches out in their own unique way. Hear songs that reflect the hard work, natural beauty, and close-knit communities that define life in Maine, as well as the highs, lows, heartbreaks, and breakthroughs that make us who we are,” organizers say.

Listen to Castlebay at Sawyer Memorial in Greene
GREENE — The duo Castlebay will bring their Celtic sound to Sawyer Memorial for two shows on Friday, July 17, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Based out of Round Pond, Castlebay, Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee tour extensively throughout the East Coast, the UK, and Maine, performing Celtic harp, guitar, fiddle, woodwinds and vocal harmonies. Their shows often blend Maine’s maritime history with traditional Irish and Scottish ballads.

Dance in Rangeley to the Barnburners
RANGELEY — On Wednesday, July 15, from 6-9 p.m., the Rangeley Friends of the Arts will present the Annual Street Dance featuring Matt & The Barnburners.
The Street Dance is an “open-air rock concert that’s perfect for the whole family. Pond Street, along the shore of Haley Pond, is closed to traffic so all ages can dance and enjoy the music,” according to organizers.
A special guest performance will be by Scheherazade Middle Eastern Dancers. The event is free; donations are accepted.

Warm up to Disney’s ‘Frozen’ in Brunswick
BRUNSWICK — The Maine State Music Theatre is presenting its third mainstage production of the season, Disney’s “Frozen,” from Wednesday, July 15, through Sunday, Aug. 1, at the Pickard Theater.
Based on the animated film, Disney’s “Frozen” tells the story of sisters Anna and Elsa as they navigate love, loss, family and self-discovery in the kingdom of Arendelle. The musical features original songs from the film, including “Let It Go,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “For the First Time in Forever,” along with new music written for the stage.

Catch Mad Agnus in Denmark
DENMARK — On Saturday, July 18, at 7 p.m. Denmark Arts Center will present the lively, progressive folk sounds of Mad Agnes.
“Well-crafted instrumentation – using guitars, mandolin, ukulele, piano, melodica, an inventive keyboard and three-part harmonies as tight as jeans from the dryer – enthralls audiences again and again,” say organizers.
The group, which toured extensively from 2001-2011, now generally stayd closer to home, and is currently recording their newest studio album, “Likely Story.”

“Both Cutrona and Foster engage with images as a means of exploring present realities and provoking possibilities for new futures,” say organizers.

Hear the Jupiter Quartet in Brunswick
BRUNSWICK — On Monday, July 20, and Monday, Aug. 3, at 7:30 p.m. the Jupiter Quartet will perform at the Bowdoin International Music Festival on the Bowdoin College campus.
The first performance will bring the Illinois-based ensemble together with their longtime friends and colleagues the Ying Quartet. The second will feature Jupiters on their own. Both concerts take place at Studzinski Recital Hall, 12 Campus Road South.
