A Rumford woman died Friday morning in a single-car crash on Greenwoods Road in Sumner, James Urquhart, chief deputy of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, wrote in a news statement.

Teresa Palmer, 65, died at the scene when the 2022 Kia Forte she was driving drifted left over the centerline, went off the road and struck a tree, Urquhart said.

Dispatchers at the Oxford County Regional Communications Center were notified of the crash about 8 a.m.

First responders found the driver deceased inside the wrecked car, Urquhart said. The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash.

People who may have seen the vehicle traveling in the area are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 207-743-9554.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Sumner Fire Department and Buckfield Rescue.
