There’s much to do this summer here in Maine, from going to the beach to hanging out by the pool.

But sometimes you just want to be inside, out of the heat. Here are places around Androscoggin County that will cure kids’ boredom, and maybe teach them a thing or two.

Family Time Dine & Play, Auburn

Family Time Dine and Play, inside the Auburn Mall at 550 Center St. in Auburn, features laser tag, arcade games and food. There is also a three-story maze and an inflatable slide.

A round of laser tag costs $3 per person. There is food as well: a large cheese pizza costs $14.99, a cheeseburger runs $8.99 and a large order of onions goes for $7.99.

FunZ Trampoline Park, Lewiston

Located at the Lewiston Mall at 40 East Ave., FunZ Trampoline Park features obstacle courses for young and older kids, two foam pits with a rock wall, and a ball pit with an air bag for kids to jump on.

There is also another ball pit area, a jungle gym and a soccer area with two soccer nets. The location has a zip line and an arcade. For toddlers, FunZ Trampoline Park has what is known as “Tiny Town,” featuring a Lego area and puzzles.

There are one- and two-hour sessions for kids that are above and below 42 inches tall. Those above 42 inches for one hour costs $12 and those below 42 inches costs $9. Two hours goes for $18 for kids above 42 inches and $18 for those under 42 inches. There are also day passes for $27 for kids above 42 inches and $22 for kids below 42 inches.

Just-In-Time Recreation, Lewiston

Just-In-Time Recreation, at 24 Mollison Way in Lewiston, features 22 10-pin bowling lanes. They also recently installed new golf, softball and baseball simulators, making it feel like you’re playing baseball at Fenway Park in Boston or golf on the PGA Tour.

One hour of bowling costs $35, with two hours going for $70. Their sports simulators cost $45 per hour between Monday and Thursday and $55 per hour for Friday to Sunday.

There is food as well. A 16-inch cheese pizza or a classic burger both cost $14. For kids, the most expensive things are nachos and a cheeseburger, both costing $10.

Mr. Drew and His Animals Too, Poland

Mr. Drew and His Animals Too, at 1395 Maind St. in Poland, features more than 200 animals to observe, with the even the chance to touch and hold some.

This destination also has a Geological Center that includes a PrisSonny Mine, Rock and Gem room, fossils and a library of natural sciences.

Maine MILL, Lewiston

Located in the heart of downtown Lewiston, the Maine MILL allows attendees to discover a collection of 10,000 artifacts and engaging exhibits that explores life, labor and culture that made Lewiston a place of industry and innovation.

Attendees have the opportunity to see a  Jacquard loom and exhibits such as textile mills, bricks that were produced in the Twin Cities. There are also opportunities to experiment with binary code and programming concepts.

Admission for the Maine MILL is $15 for adults and seniors, and $10 for students. Children under 2 are admitted free of charge.

The Public Theatre, Lewiston

The Public Theatre, at 31 Maple St. in Lewiston, is a staple in the community. For the past 35 years, this spot has produced high-quality professional theater.

Coming this summer, the theater is putting on a production of “Million Dollar Quartet,” a production inspired by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins and a visit to a Memphis recording studio on Dec. 4, 1956.

This production will be at The Public Theatre from Aug. 26 to Sept. 13.

Maine Art Glass Studio, Lisbon Falls

Check out the Maine Art Glass Studio in Lisbon Falls. Located in the former St. Cyril and St. Methodius Church, this spot features a stained glass workshop on the first floor and art gallery on the second and third floors.

There is also a butterfly and insect museum featuring some of the largest and most unusual insects that owner Jim Nutting collects, as well as a seashell collection that includes a wide variety of seashells on display.
