Vivid Motion Dance presents its summer show “Fragments in Motion.” With inspiration from the ancient poet Sappho, you’ll be drawn into a world of storytelling, emotional connection and community through the troupe’s imaginative choreography. The Artist: President George W. Bush

St. Ann’s Episcopal Church of Kennebunkport presents a one-day exhibit of original paintings by former President George W. Bush. It will be held on the University of New England Biddeford campus and requires a timed entry ticket. The former president starting painting in 2012, and was inspired by Winston Churchill’s essay “Painting as a Pastime.” The one-day show offers visitors an intimate look at Bush’s work as as an accomplished painter.

Mount Desert Island Guild Fine Craft Show

This weekend marks the 49th anniversary of the Mount Desert Island Guild Fine Craft Show happening indoors and outside on the College of the Atlantic campus. More than 50 fine craft exhibitors will be selling their creations in basketry, ceramics, fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, mixed media, paper and wood. The Friday night opening features live jazz. On Saturday, the Black Sheep Food Truck will be on site, and on Sunday you can grab a bite from Waffle ME 207.

St. Peter’s Church Italian Bazaar

St. Peter’s Church Italian Bazaar has been taking place for more than 100 years. If you love Italian cookies, pizza and pasta, there will be an endless supply for you to enjoy on site and to take home with you. There will also be live music, games and a whole lot of Italian merriment.

‘Whale Bones‘

“Whale Bones” combines theater, live music and puppetry into a show that delves into storytelling, life, death and the magic of the human experience. It took inspiration by a handful of Grimms’ fairytales, and features guest artists from Detroit-based ensemble The Hinterlands. Acclaimed composer and multi-instrumentalist Walken Schweigert wrote the original score and will perform it live, weaving a sonic tapestry that propels the story through folklore, memory and the Maine coast.

Art in the Park

The 46th annual Art in the Park in South Portland’s Mill Creek Park will feature more than 160 artisans with original art and photography. There will also be a student art exhibit, food court and live music. Kids in the Park runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and includes activities with South Portland Parks & Recreation rangers, South Portland Public Library librarians, Steelgrave balloon twisting and an appearance by Spider-Man.

Kathleen Madigan

Comic Kathleen Madigan has been making people laugh for more than 30 years. With multiple specials on platforms including Netflix and Comedy Central, along with hosting the podcast Madigan’s Pubcast, Madigan continues to be an unstoppable comedic force. Cat Video Fest 2026

For a purrfectly fun time in Rockland, catch a screening of the Cat Video Fest. It’s 110 minutes of feline shenanigans caught on film. The compilation reel features cat videos put together from a slew of submissions, and the footage includes animations, music videos and other crazy cat content. The 11 a.m. screening on Saturday will have the lights set so you can enjoy the film while also crafting, so bring your own craft project. Ten percent of proceeds will be donated to Pope Memorial Humane Society in Thomaston.

Guster On The Ocean

Alternative rock band Guster, featuring Cape Elizabeth’s Adam Gardner, presents its annual music festival in Portland. The Friday night symphony show at Merrill Auditorium is sold out, but you can still get tickets to the Saturday and Sunday outdoor shows at Thompson’s Point. Saturday’s lineup is Guster, Iron & Wine, The Barr Brothers, Dave Butler & Friends, Bebe Stockwell and Cilla Bonnie. On Sunday, catch Guster, Watchhouse, Neal Francis, Eggy, Khatumu and Talk on the Ocean (Guster in conversation).

Billy Idol and Devo
