DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Auburn Community Concert Band is in the midst of its 45th Annual Summer Series of outdoor concerts at Festival Plaza in downtown Auburn.

Free 75-minute concerts happen every Wednesday evening through Aug. 19, weather permitting. Each week, starting at 7 p.m., the band performs a different program of music featuring popular hit songs from each decade from the 1960s through the present. 

Ample free parking is available in the municipal garage across the street from the plaza. Portable toilets are alongside the garage for use by the audience. 

Auburn’s Age Friendly group are on site, selling a large variety of refreshments during every performance. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, visit www.auburncommunityband.com for that evening’s concert status. Enjoy an evening of Americana! — Milt, no town

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Androscoggin Historical Society is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and our country’s birthday with a historical display of authentic items. Accompanied by a triptych with historical information, this is truly an informational display. Especially interesting are the paintings of George and Martha Washington.

The historical societyat 93 Lisbon St. in Lewiston is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free but donations are welcome. — Cynthia, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The reunion committee for Lewiston High School class of 1958 is planning the annual reunion at Marco’s Restaurant, 12 Mollison Way in Lewiston on Saturday, Sept. 12. We’re meeting at 11 a.m. with lunch being served at 1 p.m.
