POLAND — A local man was hospitalized Tuesday evening with serious injuries after crashing his motorcycle into an SUV at the Route 11 and North Raymond Road intersection, according to an Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Dylan Deconzo, 32, was traveling south on Bakerstown Road, also Route 11, on his motorcycle around 8:35 p.m. Tuesday evening when he collided with an SUV crossing through the intersection on North Raymond Road.
Deconzo, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from his motorcycle and slid down Route 11 into a ditch on the northbound side of the road.
Deconzo was initially transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he remains in critical condition.
The SUV’s operator, Anne Emrick, 48 of Charlestown, Massachusetts, was not injured.
Witnesses to the accident told police the motorcycle had been seen operating without its headlight prior to the crash.
The intersection was closed for about four hours during the crash investigation which remains ongoing.
