LEWISTON — A man shot and killed outside a Sabattus Street tavern early Wednesday was identified Friday as 37-year-old Travis Hunter of Lisbon.
No charges have been filed in the shooting.
Witnesses said Hunter was shot outside the Blue Goose on Wednesday morning after a brawl that started with an accusation of flirting inside the tavern. Roughly eight men and women were involved in the scrap, which eventually spilled onto the sidewalk in front of the tavern.
Video of the scrum shows combatants punching and kicking their opponents, some of whom were down on the ground at the time.
At the end of the video, a pop is heard. One witness said Hunter dropped to the ground immediately after and appeared to have been shot in the midsection.
Maine State Police on Friday confirmed that Hunter had been shot in the chest. The man who fired the fatal rounds is said to be cooperating with police. He was not identified.
A woman involved in the fight was also grazed by a bullet, police said. She was treated at a hospital and later released.

Most of the combatants fled the scene once gunshots rang out, witnesses said. Lewiston and Maine State Police spent days searching for potential witnesses, including those who were involved in the brawl.
They were still asking for witnesses to come forward on Friday as the investigation continued. Police did not say if charges are expected.
Although police didn’t speculate on the motive for the killing, the shooting is possibly being investigated as a potential self-defense case.
Hunter, a family friend said, is originally from Brooklyn and goes by the name “Beno” on the streets. Hunter’s daughter and the 1-year-old girl’s mother have a house in Lisbon.
His daughter’s first birthday was on the day of the shooting, several sources said. They said Hunter had gone out for beers with friends Wednesday night in the hours before the shooting.
The brawl occurred just before 1 a.m., around the time that the Blue Goose stopped serving drinks for the night.
By early Thursday, flowers, signs and balloons were placed at the shooting scene as a memorial to Hunter.
“I’m grateful for LPD’s quick response and the assistance of Maine State Police,” said Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline, as details about the shooting emerged. “Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones.”
