AUBURN — A New Gloucester man was left in critical condition Thursday night after slamming into a tractor-trailer at the corner of Washington Street and Kittyhawk Avenue.
Jonah King, 29, of New Gloucester, was traveling south on Washington Street when he went through a red light at the Kittyhawk Avenue intersection, Auburn police said in a statement on Facebook.
According to police, King struck a tractor-trailer operated by Peter Fontaine, 46, of North Waterboro, who was turning left from Kittyhawk Avenue through a green light.
King was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with life-threatening injuries. He was later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Auburn police said the department’s crash reconstruction team is investigating with help from the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit.
